Workshops

All workshops will be at Oak Hills High School, 3200 Ebenezer Rd.

Workshops are NOT limited to Oak Hills students; anyone may register.

*EMA and waiver must be turned in with your child. Students will not be permitted to participate without a completed EMA and waiver. Forms

Note: When sessions are labeled, the number represents the age group (lower number, younger group) and the letter represents the time of session (ex: A is morning, B is afternoon). Activities will differ across number, but not letter.

September - Coding


Students will participate in code activities appropriate for their age level. Students in grades 7-12 will work with Python on Raspberry Pi's and students in grades 3-6 will learn to code with Code Combat and will make binary bracelets.

October - Spooky STEM Extravaganza

Join us for creepy science fun, techno crafts, and Halloween tricks and treats with Wells, Dunkle, and the robotics team!

December - 3D Printing Christmas Ornaments

Date: December 7th, 2019

8am-12pm


Students will be learning how to CAD, slice, and 3D print their own unique Christmas ornaments! It will take 2-3 hours to complete, for students who have previous experience, it may take only 2 hours, for students who have never used CAD before, we suggest about 3 hours. The latest one can arrive and still expect to finish is 10am.

To get there, follow the main driveway to the student lot towards the gym, then follow the single drive on the right back to a small lot surrounded by the building. You will enter door 16. A team member should meet you at the door.


December 20 STEM Workshop

Date: December 20, 2019

This is an inservice day for Oak Hills Local Schools - students do not have classes. This is a great way for your student to have fun and learn some STEM on their day off and not have to worry about child care for parents who still have work!

2 Sessions:

    • 8am - 11am*
    • 12pm - 3pm*

*You may sign your student up for either session or both sessions. Students who are signed up for both sessions will have a pizza lunch provided (no extra cost) during the break (If your students can't or won't eat pizza please send a packed lunch with them). For your student to stay all day, you must register for the morning and afternoon sessions. Students may be dropped off as early as 7:30 am for the early session, and we will stay until 4pm for pickup to accommodate parent work schedules.


Open to Grades 3-12

Cost: $50 per session

    • Pizza lunch is included for students registered for both sessions

We plan to have stations set up with the above activities - students may participate in whatever activities interest them and take as much time as they need.

Location: Media Center, Oak Hills High School - You will enter through the entrance next to the Media Center, Door 36 and be met by one of our ScotBot students. Pickup will be in the same location. (To get there, pull into the parking entrance to the staff lot on the side of the building closest to Werk Rd; the entrance is right where the lot splits for the bus lane)

January - Aerospace

Date: January 26, 2020

Morning Session: 9am-11am

Afternoon Session: 12pm-2pm


Students will be exploring Aerospace Engineering through a variety of fun activities from hoop gliders and paper rockets to a cup fliers (in a wind chamber) competition.
